Lesson 4 - Finalising & Music Video Screening
Duration: 100 minutes
Finishing Touches and Exporting Projects
This lesson will begin with students deep into editing their music videos. The teacher will visit each work station conducting conversation and observing student groups' processes and creative thoughts. This function forms as a formative assessment where the teacher can provide targeted feedback.
When the students are ready, the teacher will guide the students through the process of exporting music videos - at whatever stage they are at - approximately halfway through the lesson so that presentations can begin.
Presentations
Towards the end of the lesson, students will present their completed music videos to the class. This screening provides an opportunity for students to share their creative work with an audience and observe the diverse ways in which different groups have interpreted music visually. Following the screening, each group will deliver a short oral presentation in which they justify their creative choices, explaining how their use of visual elements, editing techniques, and symbolism was intended to communicate meaning and engage an audience. The teacher will facilitate a brief discussion, prompting further reflection on how meaning was constructed across different works.
This presentation, alongside the completed music video, functions as the summative assessment for the learning sequence. Students demonstrate their ability to apply media languages, production processes, and collaborative practices to create a cohesive and meaningful media artwork, as well as articulate their understanding of representation, audience, and intent through their oral explanation.
